Fall is here, and you can definitely feel it. Red leaves tumble to the ground and the morning air greets you with a crisp bite. There is a transition happening at our house too. Windows that have remained (more or less) open since the middle of May get pulled resignedly closed. The black canvas cover is pulled over the grill like a shroud. Sidewalk chalk and rollerblades are traded for Legos and indoor comic books. Everyone is moving back indoors.
Since we have to get more cozy for the next few months, I make sure our indoor space is as inviting as possible. Essential oils help with that. First, I make sure that the atmosphere in our shared closed space is inviting. When the windows get closed it can be surprising how quickly the air can turn stuffy with the smell of dust and of bodies in close proximity. It’s an easy proposition to fill a diffuser and create a space that feels healthy and clean. These natural scents help my family to be naturally calm and motivated. The season calls for sweet and grounding scents like certified organic ginger, sandalwood and clove. These cheering and motivating scents are perfect for cooler days and shorter daylight. They work to give feelings of natural energy, emotional stability and bright attention. I love especially love this combination during after school hours when my family is transitioning from the stress of the day to the slower-paced evening.
In fall, my family tends to gather more often around the kitchen table … to chat, to snack, to argue, and even to play board games (once they’ve worked through their computer time and finished arguing). We love that time together, and I make it better by purifying the kitchen atmosphere with my essential oil diffuser. Although I love my kitchen space, it can sometimes smell greasy or stale from the lingering aromas of meals long past. I create an instantly inviting space by diffusing powerful cleansing and uplifting citrus in N8 Essential’s certified organic Energize Blend. It creates a sweet and welcoming atmosphere in my kitchen and makes our family game time a little more rewarding and spirited.
